COUNSELING & THERAPY FOR INDIVIDUALS IN ATLANTA
At Carmody Counseling, every service is designed around you — your history, your goals, and the life you want to step into.
Laura Carmody, LCSW, MS offers personalized individual therapy for adults navigating grief, trauma, anxiety, self-esteem, cancer, and relationship recovery. In person sessions are available in Marietta off of Windy Hill and virtually for anyone in Georgia.
Are you tired of repeating the same old relationship patterns? Frustrated by well-meaning advice from friends and family who want to help but just don't quite get it?
Maybe you're looking for someone to finally listen without judgment — and for real hope that
things can get better.
At Carmody Counseling, clients leave sessions feeling like a deep exhale after holding their breath for years. Traumatic memories cleared. Freedom from flashbacks and nightmares. Less alone, less overwhelmed — and finally living in line with their own values and their own voice.

Specialized Counseling for Adults — Tailored to You.
Laura integrates evidence-based modalities — including Accelerated Resolution Therapy and trauma-informed care to help clients find relief, rebuild their sense of self, and finally feel free.
Grief Counseling
Grief is one of the most overwhelming and isolating human experiences — and one of the hardest to navigate alone. Whether you're mourning the loss of a loved one, navigating complex grief after a long illness, or sitting with an anticipatory grief you can barely name, Laura meets you exactly where you are. Together, you'll move through the complex emotions of loss at your own pace, rediscovering hope and resilience along the way.
Therapy for Toxic Relationships
Toxic relationships leave deep marks — on your confidence, your boundaries, and your sense of reality. Laura helps clients untangle the effects of emotional abuse, identify the patterns that have kept them stuck, and rebuild their sense of self and their capacity for healthy, reciprocal relationships. Whether you're currently in a toxic relationship or healing from one, real change is possible — and it starts with one conversation.
Narcissistic Abuse Recovery
Recovering from narcissistic abuse is its own unique journey — one that requires more than just leaving the relationship. Laura specializes in helping clients recognize the patterns of narcissistic abuse, reclaim their sense of reality, and rebuild their self-worth from the ground up. If you've been made to feel like you're too sensitive, too needy, or too much — this is a space where you'll finally feel seen and believed. Available in person and virtually throughout Georgia.
Counseling for Self-Esteem
Low self-esteem often has roots that run deep — in family dynamics, past relationships, and the critical voices we've internalized over time. Laura helps clients surface and challenge the beliefs that have kept them small, and move toward a more grounded and genuinely positive sense of self-worth. Clients leave with a clearer sense of their own values, their own voice, and their own worth.
Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART)
ART is a fast, evidence-based trauma therapy that uses guided eye movements to replace distressing memories with neutral or positive ones of your choosing. Unlike traditional talk therapy, ART doesn't require you to describe your trauma in detail — and clients often experience significant relief from PTSD symptoms, flashbacks, and nightmares within one or two sessions. Laura became a Certified ART specialist in September 2025 and considers witnessing its results one of the greatest privileges of her career. Available in person and virtually throughout Georgia.
Cancer Support & Counseling
A cancer diagnosis changes everything — for the person receiving it and for everyone who loves them. Laura has walked alongside cancer patients, survivors, and caregivers for years, including facilitating monthly support groups through Northside's Cancer Support Community for patients in active treatment, women diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer, and those navigating life after diagnosis. Whether you're the one facing the illness or the one holding everyone else together — this is a space where the full weight of what you're carrying is understood, honored, and met with genuine compassion. Available in person and virtually throughout Georgia.
